Do you know that diets will make you fat? They really will if you aren't careful. How could this be? Starve yourself and your body metabolism slows down as a self-preservation mechanism. Start eating again just like normal and you gain weight because of the slower metabolism. You gain all the weight you lost plus more. And sadly the weight you lost on most diets wasn't just fat either, it was water plus muscle plus fat. What you probably really want to do is to burn fat and gain muscle. Are there any rapid weight loss ideas that really work?
The best weight loss ideas are those that you can make part of your normal life. So the best approach to real long-term weight loss, ideally fat loss, is a life-style change. And please don't think you can completely change everything about the way you eat and exercise this week or even this month. Do what you can but start today.
Here are several ideas that you can start right away to move toward your ideal body condition.
1. Make a plan.
What are your goals? Want to feel better, lose weight, lower your blood pressure? Give some thought to your real goals and write those goals down. Most people will skip this step and most people fail to lose weight on diets. Write down your goals.
2. Keep a food journal.
What are you eating now? What you have eaten in the past and your past lifestyle has put you where you are today, with some contribution from genetics. So document in writing what your are doing today so you have a base to work from.
3. Eat three meals a day.
Overeaters Anonymous found that this is the surest way to stick to an eating plan and really lose weight. Three meals a day, with no snacking, puts your body in a cycle of being satisfied and in being hungry. Break the habit of eating when you want to instead of when you need to. There are good plans for eating that call for eating 5 or 6 times a day, but try the 3 times a day plan instead.
4. Drink herb tea.
Find a herb tea you like and drink the tea throughout the day to stay full and to ward off hunger pangs. Try it and see if that doesn't help.
5. Get moving.
Get out of that chair and get moving. Find an exercise that you will do and do it. There is no one best weight loss exercise. Weight training is a great way to build muscle while burning fat. Be careful though to avoid injury with any form of exercise. Rapid walking works for many people, but pick what you like to do and get moving.
6. Coconut oil.
Unrefined virgin coconut oil has many reported positive health benefits. Melt a tablespoon of coconut oil in a cup of tea 20 minutes before a meal. Drink that tea and see if you aren't less hungry when you eat. This is a great way to introduce some healthy fat into your diet and lose weight while doing so.
7. Always eat breakfast.
Skip breakfast and you're off to a bad start. Eat a balanced breakfast every morning. This is a key factor to weight loss.
All these ideas will help you lose weight rapidly, but each idea is also part of a lifestyle change that will really lead to long-term weight loss. Why not start to make healthy changes today?
